Tonight we were talking at the dinner table when Britt and I started talking to Charissa about learning to read. I got a new book today called Teach your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons by Siegfried Engelmann, and I'm very excited to start going through it was Charissa. No lie - she's ready for it. And this is the conversation she and Britt had:
Britt: Aren't you excited to learn to read? You'll be able to read your own books. Doesn't that sound like fun?
*long dramatic pause, hangs her head*
Charissa: Sounds like a lot of work.
We laughed so hard! Oh the drama! Charissa didn't exactly understand why it was funny, so she kept saying it with a different word at the end of the phrase. So it became, "Sounds like a lot of dance!", "Sounds like a lot of food!", and on and on.
You never know with that one ...
